Ihad a conversation two days ago with a guy who tells me he is an atheist. He was explaining to me that prayer has been proven to be useless.

One of David Crowder’s songs talks about “afflictions eclipsed by glory.” I think the starting point for his wording might be 2 Cor 4:17, 18

In the last three months or so I've really been intensely engaged in processing the crossroads between human reason and a faith response to divine revelation. 

I'm so glad I'm a child of God and a part of his big, world-wide family. God does ridiculous things just to tell us he loves us! Just a few days ago he did one of those things again...
